Accessibility statement

Last updated: August 24, 2025

The Technion places great importance on the accessibility of its websites and invests considerable resources to achieve this goal. The websites number in the hundreds and are managed by different entities. This document is attached to accessible websites or multi-site systems, so websites containing a link to this statement should be accessible, excluding personal websites of academic and research faculty members who are exempt by law from accessibility and are only obligated to accessibility upon demand.

Around 20% of the population in Israel have disabilities of varying degrees, requiring assistance with accessibility in general and specifically for web browsing. Disabilities may include visual, auditory, cognitive, and motoric impairments, or weakened functional abilities resulting from a permanent or temporary limitation.

Website accessibility

The Technion is committed to the AA level for website accessibility according to the guidelines of Israel Standard 5568, which include:

Font size enlargement using a button on a dedicated accessibility bar at the side of the screen
Displaying content in high contrast and option for inverted colors (light text on dark background) on the accessibility bar
Adaptations for users with a screen reader, including:
Clear semantic structure
Skip links
Lists
Tables
Forms
ALT tags for images
Links with meaningful text that clearly indicate their destination
Keyboard navigation without using a mouse using arrow, Tab, and Enter keys
Compatibility with popular browsers – Chrome, Mozilla, Explorer, Safari
Avoidance of flashing components or rapid animation
Compatibility with mobile devices
Stop/start control buttons in dynamic presentations of images and content
The TRDF’s websites were tested using the most recent version of the NVDA screen reader.
